Get to Know Our Team: Andrew Eckert
Andrew Eckert, Commercial Real Estate Broker
I've been with Sturges Property Group... 6 years
I am a native of… Fort Wayne, IN
How did you get into commercial real estate? I started out doing bookkeeping for a residential property management firm. When I decided it was time to move on, I found a great opportunity waiting at Sturges Property Group.
My favorite part of being a CRE broker and working at Sturges is that... there's never a dull day! No two deals are alike. Each transaction offers an opportunity to learn and broaden your horizons. There's also great comradery between all the brokerage teams and staff.
The most memorable deal I've handled has been... working with both the buyer and seller to complete the sale of the Millstone Apartments in Peru, Indiana.
My favorite listing we have now is... 3702 Vanguard Drive out by the airport because it's an awesome sale/leaseback opportunity. The seller will be able to remain in the space they currently occupy AND unlock capital to continue improving their business.
Tell us about your involvement with the local Blue Jacket organization... I worked closely with the Executive Director and staff in the sale of one building and assisted in negotiating leases for two of their retail outlets. Check them out at Renew by Blue Jacket in Georgetown Square and at Blue Jacket Clothing Store at 4633 Lima Rd. Make sure to grab a cup of coffee at the Tall Rabbit Café at 2001 S Calhoun St, too, or drive through the Fantasy of Lights during Christmas!
Blue Jacket is a terrific organization with a great leader that injects positive momentum into the community. The campus at South Calhoun offers so many great services and events that more people should really know about what they have to offer.
What has been your biggest accomplishment so far? Being selected as a Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly Forty Under 40 recipient in 2024 was a huge honor. Also, being able to build and sustain a career over the years while being 100% commission-based has been a true accomplishment.
What's the best piece of advice you've ever received? I had a basketball coach who would tell us, “Decide you want the ball.” I’ve carried that mindset with me into everything I do.
