Sturges Volleyball Wraps Up Season

Wanting to add a little fun and friendly competition into this busy season, Sturges Property Group enjoyed playing in Fair Play Volleyball's Coed Sixes League. The team met every Thursday night to play four games to 18. Property Management Assistant Shelby Wilson organized the team and also served as Team Captain. President Brad Sturges was able to play in most of the games, making many impressive kills, digs, and aces. The team improved steadily as the season progressed, and many team members shared high fives and hugs as the team lost their second game in the final double-elimination tournament.

While Sturges Property Group wasn't exactly "#1" on any official roster, the players were able to hone new skills and brush up on their bumping, setting, and spiking. The team members also enjoyed the camaraderie of being on a team with co-workers and are eager to try more company-sponsored sports teams in the future, such as dodgeball and beach volleyball. Sturges Property Group - Volleyball Team PhotoThe volleyball league is a new endeavor within a wider workplace wellness initiative, also spearheaded by Shelby Wilson. Other wellness activities have included a 'steps challenge' of taking at least 10,000 steps per day (as recorded by pedometer) and twice-weekly fruit smoothies provided by the company. The overall goal of the initiative is to keep employees healthy and productive, reducing sick time and increasing morale.
