Get to Know Our Team: Michelle Partin

Michelle Partin, Senior Property Manager
Years with Sturges - 4 years
I'm a native of... Wapakoneta, Ohio
How did you get your start in the commercial real estate industry?
I started as an Executive Assistant for a Real Estate Investment Trust Company in 1998, was promoted to Property Manager, and then to Senior Account Administrator. I obtained my real estate license in 2003.
Give us a quick rundown of a typical workday.
No two days are alike! Tasks can vary depending on what’s going on at a property.
In the office, I check emails, phone messages, and respond to urgent situations first. Then, move on to pay vendors, check AR reports, input and follow-up on work orders, submit past due letters, emails to Tenants, schedule appointments, and meet with Vendors, Tenants, and Landlords as needed. I'll also review Tenant leases for accuracy and bill-back expenses.
When I'm out visiting properties, I'll take pictures, check vacant units, check in with Tenants, assess the property's condition, and follow up with any issues.
What are the most crucial skills to have as a Commercial Property Manager?
Good communication skills, a calm demeanor, and the ability to prioritize and rearrange tasks.
What’s one thing you wish you had done early on in your career?
I would have taken additional higher education classes to obtain certifications, such as CPM, SIOR, CCIM, etc. Accomplishing those early in your career gives you more opportunities later on and makes you a better asset for your team.
What’s the most memorable property issue you’ve had to deal with?
I can't go into much detail about it, but a fire at North Anthony was very memorable.
What do you love about working for Sturges Property Group?
I love that management supports my development as a Property Manager. Brad and Barry have made it possible for me to obtain my Certified Property Manager’s (CPM®) designation, for which I am extremely grateful. It is with great honor and pride that I am part of this fantastic company that puts its employees first.
