Get to Know Our Team: Stacey Hauptstueck
Stacey Hauptstueck, Property Manager
I've been with Sturges Property Group... 2 years!
I am a native of... Fort Wayne, IN
I got into commercial real estate... in 1995 working at Equity Investment Group where I started off as an Assistant to Acquisition Director. I then became the Acquisition Coordinator, analyzing all properties that were under due diligence, abstracting leases, analyzing rent rolls, and all things onboarding. I later worked as a Lease Administrator after the Director of Acquisitions moved to another office.
Give us a quick rundown of your day as a Commercial Property Manager... Address any and all problems that arise, whether it be with our tenants, owners, or the property itself. Put eyes on properties when it’s an assigned property day, and if not, continually keep track of “to-do” list for all assigned properties. Stay on top of all payables that are awaiting approval, stay in touch with brokers for any vacancies that are ready to be filled, and work with TI Source and other contractors for any ongoing projects related to new tenants or existing repair work.
What is the most crucial skill to have as a Commercial Property Manager? Organizational skills are a must, but the ability to multi-task is a close second!
What’s one thing you wish you would have known/learned early on in your career? As a Property Manager, you are either the most liked person at the moment, or the least liked (with tenants, primarily). It normally doesn’t have to do with you personally, but usually the situation. Having a pretty thick skin at times can be valuable.
My most memorable property issue was… Sinkholes! At two different properties.
What did you do before joining commercial real estate? I left the Commercial Real estate world in 2005 and joined the world of steelmaking and scrap yards, working at Steel Dynamics/OmniSource. When we moved to Indianapolis in 2019, I got back into Commercial Real Estate in Lease Administration, before moving back to Fort Wayne and joining Sturges.
Rapid Fire Questions:
Strangest thing you’ve ever eaten: Alligator
Favorite Fort Wayne event: Barr Street Farmers Market in the summer
Famous person you’d like to meet: Jason and Brittney Aldean
The person I would most want to be trapped in an elevator with, living or dead: John F Kennedy, Jr... not because of actually being “trapped”, but because I have so many questions!
In my free time, you can find me… spending time with our two westies and enjoying the outdoors.
